August 2011: Datactics Wins Repeat Business from NHS Supply Chain
NHS Supply Chain was the first UK healthcare supply chain operator to use an automated Data Quality solution for product matching, purchased from Datactics in 2009. Using Datactics software has been so beneficial for NHS Supply Chain that it is now working with the Data Quality Company to develop new projects providing further efficiencies in its supply chain process.
The organisation manages the procurement and delivery of more than 620,000 products for NHS Trusts and other healthcare organisations. NHS Supply Chain’s Price Matching Team take spend data from Trusts and match it against products in its catalogue. This enables Trusts to see the benefits of using the organisation by highlighting possible savings through its catalogue for products previously bought elsewhere.
Using Datactics software, NHS Supply Chain are able to largely automate the matching process providing faster quotations for prospective customers based on their spend data and identify additional related product lines that are also available. This increases the range of products that the Trusts can purchase through NHS Supply Chain enabling them to further benefit from the efficiencies of using the Supply Chain route.
NHS Supply Chain had a business requirement for a fully-supported, reliable platform to replace multiple unsupported Access databases. The new Datactics system provides NHS Supply Chain with an enhanced price-matching, price analysis and alternative products management system.
The existing Datactics product matching system will now merge with new Datactics projects to provide a price matching analysis reporting tool and an alternatives matching and reporting tool which identifies potential alternatives to Trust current purchases.
